Dates change each cycle — always confirm deadlines on the UCAS website, and check each healthcare course guide for pathway-specific deadlines.

Personal statement checklist

  • Answers each UCAS question directly rather than as one essay
  • Reflects on experience instead of listing it
  • Names specific skills the course assesses
  • Avoids claims you could not defend at interview
  • Reads naturally out loud, with no filler opening line
  • Checked by someone who has not read your earlier drafts

Interview preparation checklist

  • Practised a structured framework for ethical scenarios
  • Rehearsed answers verbally and against a timer
  • Can explain why this profession and not the adjacent one
  • Know current issues affecting the profession in the UK
  • Prepared two questions to ask the interviewers
  • Planned travel, ID and documents for the day

Work experience reflection log

Copy these five columns into a document or spreadsheet and fill one row in after every session, while the detail is fresh.

  • Date
  • Setting
  • What happened
  • What it showed me
  • What I would do differently
